Ką girdėjote apie Artemidės šventyklą Efese?
Dar vienas ir nepakartojamas iš septynių pasaulio stebuklų – Artemidės šventykla, kuri stovėjo dabartinėje Turkijoje, Efese. Remiantis legendomis, Efesą įkūrė karingiausių moterų gentis – amazonės. Ankstesnieji mediniai šventyklos statiniai, laikui bėgant suirdavo ir sugriūdavo, arba juos sunaikindavo gaisrai ar žemės drebėjimai, todėl paskutinė Artemidės šventykla buvo perstatoma daug kartų. Manoma, kad dėl šių priežasčių, VI a. pr. m. e. viduryje buvo priimtas didingas sprendimas, kad Artemidės buveinės statyboms skirti neribotą kiekį lėšų ir laiko.
Artemidės šventykla
Chersitrono projektas – tai jis ir buvo pripažintas pačiu geriausiu, kuriame buvo numatyta, kad Artemidė šventykla bus statoma pelkėje prie užės, statyboms panaudojant marmurinius luitus. Projekto mintis buvo tokia, kad pelkė, privalėjo apsaugoti statinį nuo žemės drebėjimų, o tam, kad didžiulis marmurinis kolosas nepaskęstų pelkėje, buvo nutarta sukurti kelių metrų pagalvę, kurią sudarė vilnos ir medžio anglies mišinys. Jis buvo supiltas į iškastą gilią, pamatams skirtą duobę. Yra faktų, kurie tvirtina, kurie tvirtina, kad šventyklos statybos buvo labai sudėtingos, o pats architektas silpo, todėl, jam į pagalbą ateidavo pati Artemidė… Deja, bet architektas Cheristronas statybų pabaigos nesulaukė, jos buvo baigtos tik apie 550 m. pr. m. e.

356 m. pr. m. e. paprastas žmogelis Herostratas nusprendė, kad ir jis gali tapti nemirtinguoju ir įvykdė nusikaltimą – sudegino Artemidės šventyklą. Herostratas sunaikinimo viską ką buvo sukūręs Cheristronas ir jo bendraminčiai bei darbų tesėjai. Todėl nepavyko atrasti jokios informacijos kaip buvo puošiama ar papuošta Artemidės šventykla, ar stovėjo joje statulos ir jei taip, tai kokios, nėra žinių ir apie freskas bei paveikslus ir ar jie buvo taikyti šventyklos puošybai ir kas svarbiausia, niekas nežino, kaip atrodė pačios Artemidės statula. Taigi, bendrą šventyklos vaizdą galima tik įsivaizduoti.
Antrą kartą, Cheirokratas, Artemidės šventyklą statė daug lengviau ir per ženkliai trumpesnį laikotarpį, nes techniniai sprendimai jau buvo įgyvendinti, todėl beliko tik juos atkartoti.
127 marmuro kolonos, kurios siekė apie 20 metrų, rėmė patį svarbiausią statinį – Artemidės šventyklą, kuri buvo dekoruota nepaprasto grožio skulptūromis bei kitokiais papuošalais. Šventyklos viduryje, kaip manoma, stovėjo Artemidės skulptūra. Dabar – tai viena iš didžiausių senovės šventyklų, kurios matmenys įspūdingi 109 metrų ilgis ir 50 metrų plotis. Taigi, Artemidės šventykla yra paskelbta pasaulio stebuklu, kurios istoriją traukia ne vieną pigios keliones mėgėją.
